IESL RoboGames 2011 Final event will be held as follows,
School Category : 8th October 2011 at TECHNO Exhibition, BMICH, Colombo. Please be there by 9.00 a.m. If you need, you can do the testing and tuning on 7th October at the same venue.
Undergraduate & Open Category : 9th October 2011 at TECHNO Exhibition, BMICH, Colombo. Please be there by 9.00 a.m. You can do the testing on 7th and 8th October 2011.

What is IESL?
The Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka, commonly known as IESL was established in 1906 by act of parliament as the apex engineering professional body in Sri Lanka. IESL is committed towards uplifting the status and the interests of the engineering profession in the country.

Professionals in IT and communications engineering industries attached to the IESL provides their devotion in organizing various events on behalf of IESL, with the intention of promoting the field among the community.
IESL RoboGames
Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka (IESL) organizes an annual robot competition called “RoboGames”. This event is organized through the Information Technology and Communications Engineering Sectional Committee of the IESL with the help of department of Computer Science and Engineering of University of Moratuwa.
This competition consists of three categories. School children (school category), university students (undergraduate category) and any other party (open category) interested in robot technology are invited to the competition. Winners will be selected during the National Engineering Exhibition “Techno”, which will be held on October 7th, 8th and 9th at the BMICH. Winners would be awarded during Techno 2011 award ceremony.
Objectives of the competition
• Creating a platform for public to present their creativity and skills in Robotics.
• Promoting robotics among school population.
• Exposing the general public to latest technologies and give them a glimpse of how attractive Science and Engineering is.
• Creating an opportunity for undergraduates who have an interest towards robotics to compete among peers from different universities and share their knowledge and experience.
• Improving the knowledge about robotics of enthusiastic students and introducing new technology & techniques by conducting workshops for participants.

This time the competitions are on Robotic Soccer. School category participants have to accomplish simplified version with basic techniques, and undergraduate and open categories are expected to perform on an advanced task with video processing, wireless communications etc,.
